Non-review review edition... if that makes sense.
Since I signed up for the last day for this review tour I figured you've seen a lot of All Broke Down reviews. If you haven't, where have you been all week?!?!

Based upon a lot of the reviews that have been posted, I think y'all can tell that All Broke Down is just as awesome as All Lined Up... but trust me when I say that they are on two different sides of the spectrum. But still be prepared to be blown away.

So instead of doing a legit review with words and paragraphs and all that jazz here's a review that is (almost) solely GIFs about each chapter.

Warning: I felt a lot of feels while reading. AND Mild spoilers?

Title: Unethical

Author: Jennifer Blackwood

Published Date: October 20th 2014

Rating: 3.5 / 5 Stars

Synopsis: Two years ago, the medical world was shaken by scandal, and Payton Daniels's family was at the center of it. The second she graduated, Payton left everything behind―her high school sweetheart, her family, and the controversy surrounding her mother's death—and hid within the anonymity of college. But Payton’s ex, Blake Hiller, hasn't forgiven her for leaving, and when he enrolls in the same medical ethics class, she panics. She can’t run the risk of him telling everyone who she really is.

As if being at the same university isn’t enough, both Blake and Payton land the same internship. Forced together, their passion for each other reignites, but when Payton is asked to testify in her father’s high-profile trial, she must choose between risking her acceptance into medical school to help her father, and losing every connection to her past—including the only guy she’s ever loved.

Review: What to say... what to say. Hmmm...

This book is enjoyable, though I will say that it's not for everyone. Some will connect while others won't. You may not enjoy the plot or subplots, but the prose is what is going to make want to continue. And there's a reward: the last few chapters are worth it.

Payton was placed in a circumstance where she did not know how to handle the outcome. And she did, what I think, a lot of us do in a predicament like that, she ran. She ran not knowing any of the facts or the reasons why. The only thing that frustrated me was that she was given chances where the actions would be explained but she choose to ignore them because she couldn't take it. Finally, even though it took an x amount of times for it to finally hit her, she understands the reasons.

Blake, I don't know how I feel about you. You're different. One impressive piece about this particular story is the role reversal aspect it has to it. I don't know if Jennifer meant for this to happen, but for me, it was there. Blake made a huge life decision based on his love life; where I live and my culture, this is usually done my the female population (that's not that Blake is a feminine character). And Payton made choices based on where she wanted to direct her life... she didn't follow anyone, which is inspiring for the most part.

Unethical is a quick, smooth and an easily enjoyable read. It's the kind of debut novel where you know the author is going places. I'm glad I was able to enjoy this read and I can't wait to she what else Jennifer has in the works.

With more studying to be done

Friday, October 17, 2014 0 Comments A + a -

If the title of this post and the pic weren't indication enough...
IT'S FOOTBALLS FRIDAY! WOOP WOOP!

So if you scroll down you'd and look toward the side bar over on the right side of this post there is a countdown to Cora Carmack's ALL BROKE DOWN. And guys Get Ready because... This. Book. Is. Amazing.
We are only a couple weeks away (11 days to be exact) from getting are grubby little hands on Cora's latest release.
If somehow you have no earthy idea what I'm talking about let me enlighten you.

First, you have this book:
(Click on pic to go to goodreads)
Where it's famous for Doctor Who allusions, football fanatics, HOT football players and a coach's daughter.
And I'm pretty sure you can guess what happens from there. BUT if you can't then definitely grab this book. I mean who doesn't love football and romance with a dash of gossip???

So that was book one in Rusk University.
BOOK TWO is this beauty right here:
Where you met the badass Silas Moore and the goodass, compared to Silas, that is Dylan, who is the person that we are introduced to today.

MEET DYLAN
(thanks Ashley for the awesome graphic!)

Isn't she pretty? But that not it! She's BADASS. I mean, what else do you categorize someone who goes to jail for what they believe in?
Yes... I said jail.

Here are two of my favorite quotes form Dylan
Dudes who look dangerous should just be dangerous. Period. The end. They should not be dangerous and beautiful at the same time. It leaves the universe out of balance, and it make me do stupid things like stare.

There's nothing wrong with staring at beautiful things. And if he's so dangerous maybe you should keep an eye on him. You never know what he might do. So go ahead and stare under the pretense that you're just looking out not because he's beautiful. Let his beauty be a bonus (I totally read beauty in that last sentence as booty. Now I can't stop laughing).
Because try as I might perfect doesn't guarantee me anything. I can't control whether other people will want me or love me or even like me. I can only control how I feel about myself.

This quote right here speak so many truths. Reaching people's standards of "Perfect" is an impossible goal. Sometimes, even our own "perfect" standard is impossible. It's up to us to see how we fit within ourselves and love it.

If you want to get the full picture that is Dylan be sure to buy All Broke Down on Oct. 28!

The Year We Fell Down

Title: The Year We Fell Down

Author: Sarina Bowen

Published Date: March 24th 2014

Rating: 4/5 Stars

Synopsis: She expected to start Harkness College as a varsity ice hockey player. But a serious accident means that Corey Callahan will start school in a wheelchair instead.

Across the hall, in the other handicapped-accessible dorm room, lives the too-delicious-to-be real Adam Hartley, another would-be hockey star with his leg broken in two places. He’s way out of Corey’s league.

Also, he’s taken.

Nevertheless, an unlikely alliance blooms between Corey and Hartley in the “gimp ghetto” of McHerrin Hall. Over tequila, perilously balanced dining hall trays, and video games, the two cope with disappointments that nobody else understands.

They’re just friends, of course, until one night when things fall apart. Or fall together. All Corey knows is that she’s falling. Hard.

But will Hartley set aside his trophy girl to love someone as broken as Corey? If he won’t, she will need to find the courage to make a life for herself at Harkness — one which does not revolve around the sport she can no longer play, or the brown-eyed boy who’s afraid to love her back.

Review: So I was in, I guess you can say, a reading slump. School is not particularly hard but it's a lot of work and as soon as I get out of rehearsal all I want to do is take naps. Other than the books that I'm reading for book tours and the required reading for school I haven't read any "me" books... until now.

I'm saying this now, I am as much of a fan of hockey as I am a fan of baseball. Which means that I don't know a whole lot of the sport but I know enough to get by and enjoy a game. With that being said, I love reading sports romance (I think that's a thing).
Anyways, I saw this post (click here) and immediately thought "I need to read a story involving hockey." And so I asked the wonderful world of Twitter, and my friends suggested Sarina Bowen. (Consider all her books immediately bought).
Back to the topic at hand... I recently read The Year We Fell Down and I loved it.
I was one with the story and oh my gosh was I yelling my feels at this book. 1) I know how it feels to be injured from the sport you most love. For Corey and Hartley, it was hockey. 2) Friendships really happen out of the blue.

Corey has it through her head that she'll always be looked down upon. I wanted so much to talk some sense to her. But I understand her, she had an injury that would forever mark her as disabled and it becomes harder to see yourself as valuable when you're limited to the activities you can do. That's Corey's problem, self image and worth; add in a hottie and those problems become bigger.

However, Hartley is able to climb over Corey's defensive wall and befriend her and miraculously increase her self-esteem. He has also been injured, and with their injuries, these unfortunate two form a bond. And this is where my frustration begins. You see, Hartley has a spoiled girlfriend who only really cares for herself, which then made me want to slap some sense into him! I don't think you understand my frustrations but somehow Bowen has all the reasons come to light and then I couldn't help but say "I get it."
Like Hartley says," Everyone has their shit to shovel." This is their story of doing just that, but with some added romance.

Writing one cruddy review at a time. Until next time

Review: WARNING: This is book two of a trilogy... AND you NEED to have read Upside Down to understand anything and everything in this book.
Now that that bit's done. Let's move onto my ramblings about the book. Prepare yourselves.

I know Lia Riley to the point where she teases me endlessly. She warned me that Sideswiped was going to be filled with hard times and I believed her for the most part. I mean look at her author profile pic (down below), that is not a face that can harm a readers soul. Well LIES. That face has lies! Lia's nice and all but man is there some deep stuff lurking in there.
Sideswiped starts off a few months after the events that occur in Upside Down, which is a HAPPY ending of some sort.
One thing I love about this series is that it reveals that not everything will be all fine and dandy when it comes to relationships. There's obstacles to overcome other than just being hesitant to revealing your emotions to your significant other.
You see both Talia and Bran have some crazy family problems and personal ones that they need to overcome. Talia did the majority of that obstacle conquering in book 1; this time, it's Bran's turn. And boy is it a turn.
You see, Bran is insecure and stubborn, for good reason. His family is crud and knowing that he believes himself to be unworthy about anything good that comes his way. There were so many times where I wanted to slap some sense into him. Brandon seems to focus more on the bad than the good. He knows he has something good, something amazing, with Talia but he lets his insecurities and past experiences drive his actions and you're yelling at the book "WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?!?!"

Bran throws himself pity parties and is scared. I understand the reasons but really he needed to grow some balls and take a chance. He loves Talia but he's scared witless, he doesn't have faith in Talia's love even though they say it to each other every breathing moment. And finally, when Talia takes action to better herself and this relationship he understand. He has his head on right.
A lot of frustration and cussing went down while reading this. And when I start cussing I can't stop for hours... I've yet to stop. I mean the simple name Brandon has me spewing curse words (don't even ask to see my notes on Kindle).
Besides all the stupid actions that occur, the ending is worth it. Talia and Bran realized that not everything is black and white. They need to have faith in the gray and have faith in each other.

Impatiently waiting for Inside Out

Author Bio & Links:
Lia Riley writes offbeat New Adult Romance. After studying at the University of Montana-Missoula, she scoured the world armed only with a backpack, overconfidence and a terrible sense of direction. She counts shooting vodka with a Ukranian mechanic in Antarctica, sipping yerba mate with gauchos in Chile and swilling XXXX with stationhands in Outback Australia among her accomplishments. When not torturing heroes (because c'mon, who doesn't love a good tortured hero?), Lia herds unruly chickens, camps, beach combs, daydreams about as-of-yet unwritten books, wades through a mile-high TBR pile and schemes yet another trip. She and her family live in Northern California.
