Title: The Infinite Sea

Author: Rick Yancey

Publish Date: September 16th 2014

Summary: How do you rid the Earth of seven billion humans? Rid the humans of their humanity.

Surviving the first four waves was nearly impossible. Now Cassie Sullivan finds herself in a new world, a world in which the fundamental trust that binds us together is gone. As the 5th Wave rolls across the landscape, Cassie, Ben, and Ringer are forced to confront the Others’ ultimate goal: the extermination of the human race.

Cassie and her friends haven’t seen the depths to which the Others will sink, nor have the Others seen the heights to which humanity will rise, in the ultimate battle between life and death, hope and despair, love and hate.

Why am I waiting for this beauty of a book?
WHAT THE HECKITY HECK IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT. Honestly, if you haven't read the 5th Wave yet, I HIGHLY (to the highest degree) recommend it.

Masquerade by Nyrae Dawn

“I want you to mark me.”
Title: Masquerade

Author: Nyrae Dawn

Publish Date: January 7th 2014

My rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Summary:
A biker. A tattoo artist. A love to last a lifetime.

Maddox Cross has always had to be tough. When his father went to jail for murder, the teenager took care of his sister and mother. Now on his own and working security at a night club, Maddox wants to become a tattoo artist-a dream that comes closer to reality when he falls for the hottest, most tatted woman he's ever seen. She's wild and beautiful, and Maddox will do anything to be with her.

Bee Malone came to town to open up her new tattoo parlor, Masquerade. Since being kidnapped as a young girl, Bee has had trouble getting close to anyone. But when she meets Maddox, she sees that under his hard biker's body is the sensitive soul of an artist. What starts out as a sizzling one-night stand soon becomes so much more.

Bee wants Maddox to join her tattoo business, but letting him into her life means revealing all her most intimate secrets. And as the past begins to intertwine with her present, Bee fears their love may not be as permanent as their ink...

My Review:
“If you can’t handle getting shit, you really don’t belong here.”

Maddox was introduced in the second book of this series, Facade. Before I knew there was a third book, I knew I needed more of Maddox. And boy was I glad to know there was this beauty.
“Bad things happen all the time and overthinking them has never done shit to change anything.”
Maddox has problems, like major problems. Bee also has major problems. Their relationship is almost like "you have problems, I have problems, I think we're kind of meant to be together" kinds of relationship. Im not saying that bad , but it's cliche, but then again when isn't anything cliche. That's what makes a book fun to read.
“How can you love someone you don’t know?”
Nyrae wrote Maddox so intently yet vaguely that you honestly didn't know whether he was going to blow or not (pun intended). She wrote Bee the same way , you never knew what would tick her off. And that may have been what drew me in. These character were unpredictable when it came to each other; they were beautiful, ticking time bombs when you put them in the same room. It was because they were so similar that they felt sanctuary in each other's embrace.
“Because when I’m around it, I feel more like myself than I probably ever have.”
Now, if that right there hasn't caught your attention then I don't know what will. If you haven't jumped on this band wagon then I highly suggest that you should, because this series is an adventure in an amusement park.
“‘It’s nothing.’ But both of us know it’s everything.”

Bleed Rusk Red

I asked Cora Carmack what Rusk University's colors were about a month ago (if you can't tell from the photo: Cranberryish, black and grey). So I got to thinking on what I could possibly make, and it came to me... A blanket.

Now, I'm not one to take on huge project, but because I'm beyond excited about Cora's upcoming release (All Lined Up) i knew i had to make something. And so it was decided.

After weeks for Hobby Lobby to restock the Cranberry, I can finally start! So wish me lucky! Hopefully, I'll be done with this project by the end of May. Stay posted if y'all want to see the finished product!

Tiffany Blue and Red

So I tend to crochet little things that have at least a little bit of relation to some books. And this project is no different.

I was looking through my yarn bin when I came across these two beautiful colors (I didn't even know I had them. Lucky Me!). Well, when I spotted them I couldn't help but think of Megan Erickson's Make it Count coming out this June. (If you haven't seen it yet here's the cover reveal: Link).

What it's going to be is still a mystery, but I do have an idea in mind and hopefully by the end of this week it'll be done. So stay posted!

Title: Golden Hour

Author: Campbell Reinhardt

Publish Date: March 23rd 2014

Blurb:
In the medical field, the precious moments following a traumatic event in which you have the best chance of saving a life are known as the golden hour.

But being there during the golden hour doesn't mean you'll be able to save the one you love...

New Orleans native and ER nurse, Elise Dupuis knows that fact all too well. There was nothing she could do to save her fiancé, New Orleans police officer Mike Bazanac, when he was brought into her hospital with two fatal bullet wounds.

Now everyone walks around on eggshells when she comes into the room—except her brother Charlie. As Mike's partner, he bears a guilt that's spiraled him into dark pain. Charlie is lashing out, Elise is turning in, and life seems to be falling apart around them.

Caleb Warren knows what it feels like to always be on the losing end of things. A few criminal turns in his youth landed him two crap choices: mandatory service in the armed forces or jail. He chooses to enlist, and just when he finds a commander who has a little faith in him, their truck hits an IED. Caleb's training as a medic isn't enough to save the one person who's ever given a damn about him.

Now back in New Orleans as an EMT, Caleb is bound and determined to drown himself in booze and regrets. But he crosses paths with nurse Elise Dupuis and finds a woman whose passion and courage gets under his skin in a way that wakes him up and makes him want to live again.

Unfortunately, Charlie doesn't think the new EMT is good enough for his sister, and he’ll step outside the lines of the law to prove it to Elise.

Caleb has to figure out what's worth fighting for…and how far he's willing to go for the woman he loves.

What Golden Hour is in five words:

HEART:

This word means so much in its literal and figurative sense. Because this is a story about the medical field, the heart as an organ is something every character is very attuned to. But, even though Caleb and Elise are young and physically sound, overcoming extreme heartbreak is what makes them strong and attracts them to each other. And the healing of their hearts--through their love for one another--is the most gorgeous aspect of Golden Hour.

HEAT:

Golden Hour takes place in the muggy, sweaty rise of a New Orleans summer. You can feel the heat beating down on the characters in so many scenes. More than that, Caleb and Elise feel a blistering sexual heat for one another. It’s this chemistry that drives them into each other’s arms when they’re so sure they’re not right for each other. And that heat only gets fanned the longer they’re around each other.

FAMILY:

Strong bonds, intrigue, complications, abandonment, blood family, family by marriage, family by love...Golden Hour lets all the intricacies, ugliness, and heartbreaking beauty of family wind together and play out.

STRENGTH:

Caleb and Elise face death and pain on a daily basis…and their job is to fix it. Stop it. Make it better. They do an amazing job at that because they’re hardwired to be strong and compassionate. That strength is ultimately what drives them together. They find in one another a person they can be vulnerable with after a long day of carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders.

HOPE:

More than anything else, Golden Hour is a story about hope. Hope after devastating loss, hope when you’re positive there’s absolutely nothing left to hope for, hope that frees you from everything you’re too afraid to face head on. Caleb and Elise find love and transform their lives because of hope, and it’s what we most hope readers will take away from this book.

About The Authors:
Liz grew up on the East Coast, and Steph on the West Coast-and somehow they both ended up making their homes with their husbands and children in small, Southern towns. They've been co-writing since 2012 after they each read a book written by the other and contacted each other to gush.

Liz loves Raisinettes, even if they aren't really candy, the Oxford comma, movies that are hilarious or feature Zombies, any and all books, but especially romance (the smarter and hotter, the better), the sound of her daughter's incessantly wise and entertaining chatter, and watching her husband work on cars in the driveway.

Steph has one husband, four children, and a serious nail polish obsession. When she isn't reading, writing or wiping someone's nose, you can usually find her baking something.
You can find the writing duo on Facebook.

Facade by Nyrae Dawn

“One of us deserves that bullshit storybook ending.”
Title: Facade

Author: Nyrae Dawn

Publish Date: July 2nd 2013

My Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Summary:
After her father commits a crime that shatters her family, eighteen-year-old Delaney Cross is tired of pretending everything is alright. Packing up her car, she sets out to find the people her father hurt. Her search leads her to places she's never been--and into the arms of Adrian Westfall.

To the outside world, Adrian is a sexy, charming ladies man. But his playboy persona is just an act. Secretly his soul is tortured by a memory too painful to share. Only Delaney seems to see through his façade to the real man underneath. And for the first time in his life, Adrian feels he can begin to open up about his past.

Together, Adrian and Delaney share a passionate, carefree love they never expected to find. Yet both still harbor their own secrets. When the dark truth is finally revealed, will it bring them closer together, or tear them apart forever?

My Review:
“Life doesn’t work like dreams…”
Wow. This book was spectacular. I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations.  I feel in love with Adrian within the first few pages of opening the book. I loved Delaney's heart and her conscience that motivated her journey throughout his book. Though I was yelling at her the whole time to tell what need to be told. (GAH I was going ballistic).
“I won’t let you go,” I say, though we both know eventually I will.”
Their relationship's journey was sweet. GAH THE DINER. It makes me want to work in a diner in hopes of finding me a guy though I doubt I'll be a skilled waitress.
“We all deal with our pain in a different way, I realize.”
HOLY SHUCKS THE FREAKING LITTLE PLOT TWIST. Okay I can say that I thought that was going to happen but I didn't think Nyrae Dawn would actually go through with it. And I'm really glad she did, but also looking back at the story the twist was really needed. It explains the emotions that sway a certain character just the right way. Which makes this book even more perfect.
“I’ll be just fine, with these people in my life, and for him, I’ll be okay.”
This book is just too cute, though there are times where you just want to go crazy and try to snap some sense into a good number of these character. I highly suggest this book, and if you've yet read the first book in this series (Charade) go read it, like right now.
“I’m ready to let myself sink”

One Tiny Lie by K.A Tucker

Tuesday, April 22, 2014 0 Comments A + a -

"So I hear you're a ticking time bomb."
Title: One Tiny Lie

Author: K.A. Tucker

Publish Date: June 11th 2013

My Rating: FIVE GOLDEN STARS

Summary:
“Make me proud.” These were the last words Livie’s father ever spoke to her. In the seven years since her parents’ tragic death, Livie has done her best to live up to this standard through her every choice, word, and action, while looking after her sister with strength and maturity. But with college right around the corner, unexpected challenges will test her resilience—and her heart.

Livie walks into Princeton with a solid plan, and she’s dead set on delivering on it: Rock her classes; set herself up for medical school; and meet a good, respectable guy to someday marry. Her plan definitely does not include Jell-O shots; a lovable, party animal roommate she can’t say “no” to; or Ashton, the arrogant—and extremely attractive—captain of the men’s rowing team who makes Livie’s usually nonexistent temper flare. Worse, he’s best friends and roommates with Connor, who happens to fit Livie’s criteria perfectly. So why does she keep thinking about Ashton?

As Livie finds herself facing mediocre grades, career aspirations she no longer thinks she can handle, and feelings for Ashton that she shouldn’t have, she’s forced to let go of her last promise to her father, and, with it, the only identity she’s ever known.

My Review:
"Go forth and make thy mistakes."
This is actually my nth time rereading this book. Whenever I feel like I'm in a book slump, it's usually a toss up between this book and another that get me out of it.
"I want you to make your choices with your eyes wide open rather than on autopilot."
I feel a serious connection with this book. Not necessarily the background where the main character comes from but the thought process. Livie's aspirations and her personality are a lot like mine that it's really scary. It's like K.A. Tucker set up a camp ground in my head and stayed there dissecting my thoughts. Livie is me and I think that's why I am completely in love with this book.
"It's a mishmash of misfits and yet... it's family. It's home."
Onto a different topic... Holy Shucks gorgeous men all over this book. (That's also a good reason to read K.A Tucker books. There will never be some no eye candy in any of here books). But also these men aren't just eye candy, they have a huge role in the overall story and their relationship with the main characters is endearing to say the least. And that's the case with Ashton. (To Livie: I would so climb that tree, too).
"You're my forever girl."
Even though I've reread this story many times, nothing is lost. I still feel those same emotions when I first read it and that, my friend, is a rarity. This book (and series) is a must read, everything is in here.
"Help me forget for a while."

Title: Girl Lost

Author: Nazarea Andrews

Publish Date: May 1st 2014

Summary:
Northern was supposed to be a fresh start—a place where people didn’t know who I was or how I had spent years in and out of mental institutes. People didn't know about my parents death or the island no one heard of. But when Peter sits next to me in lit class, I can’t stop the memories, and I don’t want to. He looks too much like the boy from the island, and despite my best intentions, coaxes my secrets from me.

He’s gorgeous, irresistible, a little mad, and completely lost—we are a pair of broken cogs in a world neither of us truly fits into. And he listens when I talk, about the past and the terrifying future. He is somehow gentle and fierce, heartbreaking in his devotion and savage in his defense.

When Belle, his best friend, shows up, pale and lovely and sick, Peter pulls away from me, a startling withdrawal. It’s a relationship that scares and confuses me. She is at times warm and friendly, and other times is violent and unpredictable.

Peter says that he wants me, but refuses to let himself get close. And there are secrets, surrounding both of us, that border on nightmares. As the memories close in, as Belle gets sicker and more violent, I’m torn between what is true and what I believe, and what this magical boy knows about my mysterious past.

*Suitable for 17+. A romantic contemporary retelling of the boy who never grew up.

Title: Make It Count

Author: Megan Erickson

Publish Date: June 3rd 2014

Summary: Kat Caruso wishes her brain had a return policy, or at least a complaint hot-line. The defective organ is constantly distracted, terrible at statistics, and absolutely flooded with inappropriate thoughts about her boyfriend’s gorgeous best friend, Alec…who just so happens to be her brand new math tutor. Who knew nerd was so hot?

Kat usually goes through tutors like she does boyfriends—both always seem to bail when they realize how hopeless she is. It’s safer for her heart to keep everyone at arm’s reach. But Alec is always stepping just a little too close.

Alec Stone should not be fantasizing about Kat. She’s adorable, unbelievably witty, and completely off limits. He’d never stab his best friend in the back…

But when secrets are revealed, the lines of loyalty are blurred. To make it count, Alec must learn messy human emotions can’t be solved like a trigonometry function. And Kat has to trust Alec may be the first guy to want her for who she is, and not in spite of it.

Why should I read this beauty of a book?
Well, you might call me weird but I really do like math. And if a hottie like Alec Stone knows math pretty well, I'm gonna climb him like a tree. I mean come on, hot nerds are the best of both worlds.

When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

My Review:

Boy, did I love this book. I had been waiting to get my hands on this book since the beginning of January and I finally had enough to buy this as well as other books this past month. I heard about this book on Tumblr ( I guess you can say that's where I meet a lot of my favorite books). First I saw the beautiful fan art (which contained spoilers, but oh well) and then I started seeing quotes. If anything, the quotes are what got me intrigued. And aren't I glad for them.
"Courage of the heart is very rare. Let it guide you."
Sarah J. Maas puts you in a whole different universe. Her story is descriptive and entertaining to where you understand everything that's going on. You feel like you are every character that is being spoken to or spoken about. you are in the story and there's no way of leaving this tale until you finish the book.
"She'd survived Endovier, and yet could still laugh."
The characters are amazing to say the least. The bickering and tension between these characters will make you laugh insanely loud, squeal, clutch your heart, gasp for breath. Honestly, it's like being on a roller coaster that you don't ever want to end.
"You could rattle the stars. You could do anything if you dared And deep down, you know it too. And that's what scares you."
But unfortunately it does and you're left in a stupor. And if you're like me you were stupid to have not bought the second book when you ordered the first one.  (DANG IT VANGIE!) Now I'm scrounging around for money.
"There are many things history has forgotten about me."

Just go read this book because it will blow your mind. You might regret the mindblowing part but you won't regret reading this story.

Make It Count COVER REVEAL & EXCERPT

Title: Make It Count

Author: Megan Erickson

Publication Date: June 3rd 2014

Genre: New Adult

Blurb:
Kat Caruso wishes her brain had a return policy, or at least a complaint hot-line.

EXCERPT TIME
Chapter One

Kat gathered her books and stuffed them into her plaid Burberry messenger bag, then headed toward the front doors, smoothie from the library snack shop in hand. Head bent, fiddling with the clasp of her bag, she stumbled into a wall of human on the pavement outside.
“Oh, I’m sorry—” Her voice dropped out when she realized the solid flesh belonged to Alec, Max’s best friend.
She’d only met him once or twice before he’d moved in with Max this semester and every time, he cocked his eyebrow with a half frown like he knew something she didn’t. Which he actually did, since he had brainy superpowers. Smarter than a speeding Einstein. Able to leap over C-minus students like her in a single bound.
She didn’t trust people that smart. And she didn’t trust a guy who didn’t ogle her ass or leer at her boobs like every other member of the straight male species on the planet.
Right now, that raised-eyebrow frown pinned her where she stood. His pale green eyes behind thick black frames roamed over her shoulder to the library and then back to her. With his pin-stripe button-down, dark jeans with Converse shoes and hair styled in a short, messy pompadour, he looked like a nerdy Elvis.
His frown morphed into a smile when he spotted the smoothie in her hand, and she definitely didn’t notice his full lips. “You know, you don’t have to venture into the forbidden zone just to get a smoothie.”
Oooh. The jerk. She glanced around surreptitiously, then leaned in and spoke in a low voice. “Just play it cool. Don’t let it slip someone like me snuck in the library.” She gripped his forearm and whispered. “Password today is rosebud.”
His face blanked and he looked at her like he’d never seen her before. Kat debated whether or not that was an improvement over his other look.
But then those intelligent eyes narrowed and a smirk curled his lips. “I know. We nerds get an e-mail every morning.”
See? He always needed the last word. She propped a hand on her hip and leaned in. “Well, sounds like you have a mole. Might want to look into that.”
He opened his mouth but she cut him off. “Just looking out for you guys. Anyway, see ya around!”
Before he could shoot back a snarky comeback, Kat skirted around him and bounded down the stairs. She chalked that up as Kat 1, Alec 0.

My review:
Holy shucks. Wow. Whoa. Awe. Fudge. Insert any words that expresses the most deepest emotion for you and that is this book. Imagine your deepest darkest emotion embodied into a person who loves to write, that is Tarryn Fisher. Put both of them together and you in for one dark, twisted ride.
"Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth."
There's honestly no way for me to right a coherent review without wanting to say a spoiler after every sentence. I wont even try. Believe me when I say you need to go into this particular book blind. Going in blind, you are pure of thought and you expectations may be nonexistent but that should not stop you from reading this priceless book.
"You will feel me in the fall."
The character are so perfectly flawed, you'd think there would be no possible way to relate, but you'd be wrong. Somehow, in your most deepest thoughts, you are those flawed character and you feel everything.
"You want your freedom until you get it, then you feel bare without your chains."
If you have a strong heart, read this book. If you have a weak one, read this book. In any case, read this book because Tarryn teaches you a whole new meaning to love.

Waiting patiently for another Tarryn Fisher book,
Vangie

Waiting On Wednesday:

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine. It spotlights those darn books that have not yet been released, but everyone is eager to get their hands on!

This week, my WoW is...

Title: All Lined Up

Author: Cora Carmack

Publish Date: May 13th 2014

Summary:
In Texas, two things are cherished above all else—football and gossip. My life has always been ruled by both.

Dallas Cole loathes football. That's what happens when you spend your whole childhood coming in second to a sport. College is her time to step out of the bleachers, and put the playing field (and the players) in her past.

But life doesn't always go as planned. As if going to the same college as her football star ex wasn’t bad enough, her father, a Texas high school coaching phenom, has decided to make the jump to college ball… as the new head coach at Rusk University. Dallas finds herself in the shadows of her father and football all over again.

Carson McClain is determined to go from second-string quarterback to the starting line-up. He needs the scholarship and the future that football provides. But when a beautiful redhead literally falls into his life, his focus is more than tested. It's obliterated.

Dallas doesn't know Carson is on the team. Carson doesn't know that Dallas is his new coach's daughter.

And neither of them know how to walk away from the attraction they feel.

Why should I read this beauty of a book?
Well why wouldn't you? It's stacks of paper with words on them that have a pretty cover. (Okay, I'm done with the sass.)
The real answer: First, who doesn't like gossip and football in Texas, where everything is BIGGER? Football: where girls - and sometimes guys - can openly stare at gorgeous, fit men. Gossip: where we find out all the chisme (gossip) on that particular player we fancy. See this book is our everyday lives, though football may not be in everyone's' there is at least one thing that can take football's place. Anyone can find themselves in this book, if only a little bit.
And secondly, Cora has a way with words that just sweep you off your feet. She is the Prince Charming of words while you're Cinderella. Her series before this one (Losing It) were full of awkward moments (Cora's trademark) that are oh so enduring, and wit where you'll end up laughing your face of only to be embarrassed by the people staring at you. So if you're into that then definitely pick up a Cora Carmack book.

PS. I'm not on a first name basis with Cora Carmack, however it feels really weird writing out only Carmack with out Cora. And I'm a lazy person so I just stopped at Cora. Forgive me if you feel as if I have no respect for her. (Because I freaking platonically love her.)

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

"I'm worried that feelings are the one thing in our lives that we have absolutely no control over."

Title: Maybe Someday

Author: Colleen Hoover

Published Date: March 18th 2014

My Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Summary
At twenty-two years old, aspiring musician Sydney Blake has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her good friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter cheating on her with Tori—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by her mysterious neighbor, Ridge Lawson. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the daily guitar playing he does out on his balcony. She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

My Review:
"Welcome to the weirdest place you'll ever live."
Wow. It seems like every author is shocking me with their amazing works, and this one isn't to be excluded.
"I know how nerve-wrecking it is to send someone a piece of yourself and then have to sit back and wait for it to be judged."
The way Colleen crafted her words was like Niagara Falls, flowing freely but you're left down at the bottom being killed. The words move effortlessly like an angel with perfect wings but the angel ends up giving you a sucker punch, and you can't help but want take another. THAT is what she leaves you with.
"It's not so easy when you're trying to win a war against the heart."
The music is adorably, heartbreakingly, beautiful. I, like many other fans of Colleen Hoover's books, pre-ordered the soundtrack. Just listening to those songs I knew this story was going to be a heartwrencher. Heavy emotions could be felt through the songs and KNOWING that there's a story of epic proportions I was left breathless.
"We try so hard to hide everything we're really feeling from those who probably need to know our true feelings the most."
Now add Colleen's words and Griffin's lyrics, you have a masterpiece, and that's putting it lightly. The background for each song makes the heart break a million times over! The situations the characters are put in are tear jerkers, gut wrenchers, and rarely, but there are times, happy. And even though these mesh of words and lyrics crash into your heart and kill you, the story is so intriguing that there's no argument about whether to continue on or not.
"The heart does whatever the hell it wants to do."
I usually go into character analysis here, but I don't want to go on gushing about one character and feel like I'm neglecting the others and also spoilers because once I start I will never be able to stop and you'll be left with a twenty page essay. Just know that I absolutely love each character and my love for Ridge is beyond the universe.
"Words can sometimes have a far greater effect on a heart than a kiss."
Go grab this book if you haven't already. And if you're contemplating whether to read it know or hold off on it, don't. Read it right away and come and talk to be so we can fangirl about this book together.
