"You care about her. you see her -all her parts- and that's all she needs. No grand gestures, no flowers or anything. Just find a way to show her how amazing she is."
Title: Make It Count

Author: Megan Erickson

Publish Date: June 3rd 2014

My Rating: FIVE GOLDEN STARS

Summary:
Kat Caruso wishes her brain had a return policy, or at least a complaint hot-line. The defective organ is constantly distracted, terrible at statistics, and absolutely flooded with inappropriate thoughts about her boyfriend's gorgeous best friend, Alec...who just so happens to be her brand new college math tutor. Who knew nerd was so hot?
Kat usually goes through tutors like she does boyfriends--both always seem to bail when they realize how hopeless she is. It's safer for her heart to keep everyone at arm's reach. But Alec is always stepping just a little too close.
Alec Stone should not be fantasizing about Kat. She's adorable, unbelievably witty, and completely off limits. He'd never stab his best friend in the back...
But when secrets are revealed, the lines of loyalty are blurred. To make it count, Alec must learn messy human emotions can't be solved like a trigonometry function. And Kat has to trust Alec may be the first guy to want her for who she is, and not in spite of it.

My Review:
"You're not going to be me. YOu don't want to be me. You gotta be you and you need to figure it out. Yourself."
This book was nothing less than awesome. I will admit that I was a little skeptical about this book when I first read the synopsis and again when I reading the first few chapters. I'm really glad I continued on.
"So, if you really her, go after her. Show her the kind of man you are."
Kat is such an adorable character. Once you get used to her scatterbrained thoughts, you see her true self like everyone else does. And, essentially, that's the journey Kat goes through.
"Kat wanted to climb him like a tree."
(Oh gosh. I don't think you understand how hard I laughed on the quote above. The fact that I ALWAYS say this to my friends just had me laughing like a lunatic.) Golly man. I can't wait for y'all to meet Kat; Y'all are gonna love her.
"Just the sight of him, which used to unsettle her, now balanced her."
Alec. Man, I love you. Alec is such an awesome character. He's my second favorite character in this story (favorite is named down at the VERY bottom). He inspires me to love math more and guys' hair (darn him and his stupid, beautiful, hair). His character development was gold. The bond with him and Max is adorable to say the least, though there are some problems (which you would know about if you buy the book!).
"Red flags flashed in front of his eyes but he decided at that moment to be color blind."
This is crazy but Kat's and Alec's relationship is probably my favorite of NA relationships. Of all the books I've read, a lot of the relationships that  are going on are largely based on lust rather than love. I saw different in this couple. There's a small line that goes, "They spent the day in his room, wrapped up in each other on Alec's bed, watching movies on his computer, talking and eating." The thing is, they are doing this right after they had sex. They are sitting down watching freaking movies and TALKING (if that's not a relationship, I don't know what is). Also, and last thing, the banter is GOLD. The banter while they had sex and when they are just talking had me going crazy because I was laughing by butt off. This is the kind of relationship that should be treasured.
"The knowledge that he didn't know - that he didn't know all there was to know all about Kat Caruso- bothered the hell out of him."

P.S. *Spoilers maybe?* Holy shucks Max. I freaking love you. I mean yeah your a jerk, but I'm pretty darn sure Alec wouldn't be friends with you if you were a complete butthole.

I'm so ready to go into your head and for you to find happiness in September. (September be here quick!)

Megan worked as a journalist covering real-life dramas before she decided she liked writing her own endings better and switched to fiction.
